他擅长演唱热带生活和爱情歌曲，70年代末开始音乐创作，《Key largo》于1981年完成，是Bertie在美国流行排行榜上的一次历史性突破，不但使美国乐界对它引起了注意，而且也成为了世界性的热门曲。紧跟着Bertie又写出《Just Another Day in Paradise》，《Casablanca》，《Pirates and Poets》等他擅长演唱热带生活和爱情歌曲，曾经当过海棉采集手，

12岁时当过口技演员，在Tampa Bay学校里的天才竞赛中得过头奖，成为当地各演出团体和俱乐部中的风流人物。离校后在Tommy Roe中充鼓手，在世界各地巡演，还曾为Rolling Stones滚石，The Beach boys沙滩小子，

Tom Jones汤姆·琼斯，Roy Orbison罗依·奥毕逊，Manfred Mann，Peter and Gordon，The Dave Clark Five等众多艺人表演的开场演出。令他得益最多的是他随Beatlemania（一支完全模仿Beatles的演唱组）一起演出的时候。

歌曲的演唱者Bertie Higgins于1944年12月8日出生于佛罗里达州，Bertie身为职业音乐家，坚实的音乐基础使他在60年代早期的单独演唱能够脱颖而出，一鸣惊人。经过七十年代的酝酿，1982年他的首次演唱《卡萨布兰卡》实际上使他东山再起，因为这是他自1968年落寞以来在音乐上的又一次冒险。这首歌收录在他的1982年专辑《主要乐章》中，是1982年泛太平洋区的年度最佳歌曲。也是他唯一的成功之作;这首歌曲由Bertie Higgins在1986年录唱，又收录在1994年的唱片《Then end now》中。
